My 2nd Prestige

Scored my 2nd Prestige this week.. I just finished pulling the Dimarzio designed IBZs in favor of an Evo and Paf Pro

This one is growing on me fast. I prefer it to the Jems I've owned..

Re: My 2nd Prestige

I'm curious about your thoughts before and after the pickup change. I like the neck DiMarzio/IBZ more than the Seymour Duncan '59 it was swapped out for, so the '59 is leaving. Between a Tone Zone, a JB, and the bridge DiMarzio/IBZ... I like all three for different things and so help me, I think I like the JB more than the Tone Zone for this particular guitar (RGA321FSB). I have an Evolution bridge uninstalled on the side too. Let me know your (unbiased if you can) thoughts on the tonal differences. People call these pickups crap just because they don't have a regular model name but, it's just not true!

Re: My 2nd Prestige

I think the stock Ibanez Pickups are great, alot better than top spec Fender Pickups.

Re: My 2nd Prestige

I thought the stock pickups were the weak link in this guitar.. Everything else is top notch on it but the stock pickups just didn't seem to belong on an instrument of this quality and price range. I think the Evo is a significant upgrade over the stock bridge IBZ. The Paf Pro is a minimal upgrade over the stock neck IBZ to be fair IMO of course

Re: My 2nd Prestige

No, sell it to me! I'm thinking about buying one over a Jem, looks like you get so much more for your money with the RTG320, and its cheaper then a current Jem with the benefit that its not covered in cheapo gold plating - and direct mounted PUs with through neck have just gotta be better then plastic scratchplate with bolt on neck! I love the music Steve makes, but hate paying over the odds for his name on a lump of wood and wire. (Funny how the JS model is so much cheaper - maybe becase Ibanez see Joe as not having the popular status as SV?)

I'd hold onto it as well. I've always liked those. Beautiful guitar.
