My completed 20051
Well here she is...
Took some love, a few pickup changes, a blocked trem, a thick set of 11's, and a white 5-way topper to get it just right, but she went from almost sold, to completely irreplacable.

Re: My completed 20051
Nice!
I'm a "blocked trem" guy too, I just can't be doing with them. I really like the look of the
black pickups
too, much better than those swirled pickups that it comes stock with.
Nice mods all-round.

Nice axe!
I consider blocking the trem on my 2004 RG2550.
What solutions do you recommend?

I'm in love with the blocked trem. Makes life SOOOO much easier, better sustain and resonance too. I really like the black pickups too, they break up the swirl in a good way.

The tech who blocked mine used two pieces of Ebony. Here's a pic...
I would've liked the trem to sit a little flatter, but no big deal.

Re: My completed 20051
Looks killer. The 20051 is a great guitar. I was planning to replace the pups in mine with white Evos, but I had to sell it. Now, you're making me miss it!

Re: My completed 20051
I always thought that white pickups would look best with these B&W swirls.
Anyway, good job.

I originally had an Evo in the
bridge position
, but the sound was a little too muddy for my tastes. The Steve's Special is a much tighter sound, albeit not quite as "bold" as the Evo, but definitely a step in the right direction for me. The articulation is fantastic, and the tone has lots of depth with just enough up top. Break-up is just as sweet as initial attack
Sorry you miss it
I thought about selling mine for a while, but now that the setup is proper, and the sound is where I want it, I wouldn't dream of parting with it. This guitar cost me $100 (Though my total current investment in it tallies close to $340), plus my older EMG-equipped PRS. Initially, I was regretting the decision, now I would never have looked back

To address the color comments, I originally planned to get black & white pickups to match better, unfortunately I couldn't find them readily available for a decent price. I was dying to get modding, so I buckled down and got a black Evo and ended up liking the contrast a lot. The chrome poles of the new pickups I think add to the contrast even more.

That's so sad JM. Drop me a PM and I can point you towards someone who can get you any color Dimarzio you want in a week. Seriously. You should not have had any trouble finding that color combo.

I was able to find Black and Creme pretty easily, but not black and white
Also, I got the black ones dirt cheap from a
local music store
When I have some money to burn, I might make the switch. Right now, my goal is to retube my amp
I've been swapping pickups and making decisions concerning my tone based on 5-year old tubes

Re: My completed 20051
About 1/16th on the high side, maybe an 1/8th on the low side. No choke on the high side, very little buzz on the low side.
When I get home, I'll snap a pic or two to show it better

Re: My completed 20051
Well done. I think 20051's are totally underrated. I like your swirl pattern a lot.
