My custom made Prestige Radius guitar w/ Double EDGE - check it out!

Hi there,

it's time to unveil my latest and very successful project. A JS/Radius body made from mahogany and spalted maple, the shape taken from my 1992 JS1BK, with a Prestige Saber neck and a Double EDGE bridge. Check it out!

Awesome!! that looks great man, seriously

Im curious, how did you "get the shape" from the JS? measuring by hand? and whats the control cavity look like? seeing the battery cover on the controls cover seems strange...

Yes, the shape was copied by hand, so to speak. At least there was no copy carver involved.

I wanted the battery to go inside the control cavity, but still accessible from the outside. This avoids an unneccessary third routing on the back for the battery compartment.

Here is a shot of the control cavity before it was shielded and the components were wired. You can see the free space in the middle - this is where the battery goes when the slider is closed.

Thanks, I got the maple from www.holz-faszination.de (supplier for virtually every German guitar maker). I was lucky to find a piece that is (a) thick enough to realize the JS body contours, (b) nicely figured and (c) not too spongy because it would have been a pain in the neck (or in the lung?) to carve & sand.

It's really cool. It takes off where the FRED stopped in terms of output, but still retaining the overtone richness and balanced tone.

Very nice, but can someone explain to me.... what is "spalted" ? Is it natural or is it a process that is done to maple ? Just curious.
