My First J-Custom

Well after all these years I finally bought something aside from a JS, JEM, and UV..... lol I have to say I am completely AMAZED at the quality of craftsmanship in this guitar. I have owned ALLOT of guitars and my 1993 VWH for some reason or another has always played the VERY best out of all the JEM's I have bought. But this J-custom is just amazing and it plays and feels just as solid and just as amazing as my VWH.

It is a J-Custom RG8520 (early model with the 2 volume and 2 tone knobs). Only thing missing is a coil split for the hubuckers but I will add that to each of the volume knobs. I was surprised and happy to see that they routed out the spots for the knobs so the knobs go "into" the body a little giving it a more professional quality look. The thing is MINT too!! I will post some pictures of it later tomorrow.

Anyhow I just thought I would chime in and say I am proud to be a new member of the J-Custom club. lol

Keep Rockin,

Rikk

Re: My First J-Custom

Hey guys,

It beats the heck out of the other 2 JEM7VWH's I owned. I have always hung onto the VWH I bought back in 93' because it felt the best out of all my JEM's (plus it had sentimental attachment since I had put so many hours on it and Vai had played on it at a G3 show backstage and everything) and I would say this J-Custom plays and feels 100% identicle. I mean it feels really "solid" and the tone is unreal.

Here is a pic (hard to get the flame to come out as beautiful as it is in person)

If you want to see other pictures, I made a small page on my website for the guitar. Go to: http://www.rikkbeatty.com/jcustom.html

Talking

Re: My First J-Custom

Thanks guys. I gotta tell ya... the more I play this guitar, the more I want to save up and buy more of them just to see if the quality is like this on all of them. I was going to buy a mirror JEM with my income tax money in January/February but I may buy a couple more J-customs (or 1 "rare" one). I would LOVE for Ed Roman to ever try to talk trash about the J-Customs like he has talked in the past about the JEM guitars. I just cant see anywhere on this guitar where Ibanez did not pay every attention to detail with it. JUst amazing. I would love to have my next JC be one with a vine. Those are just beautiful. I will try to swing one of those before income tax time. :-)

Say whats the best site to buy these JC's from new? I am going to check Rich's site to see if he sells these new first. I always try to buy from Rich first. We gotta support our brotha's business! lol I got this one on a trade otherwise it probably would have come from Rich. I like the looks of those puzzle guitars too... are those Prestige or J-Custom?
