My First Non-Jem Ibanez

Well, after checking out Rich's Namm info I fell in love with the RGA121 in Crushed Dark Ruby. The guitar is amazingly beautiful and I've been wanting something different for a while. Found one on the bay new for $775 w/ free shipping so I pulled the trigger.

I'll be replacing the pickups most likely with some chrome breeds that I bought for another project (Herc Fede swirl), but I think they will look better on this guitar, where on the swirled Jem they may take away from the swirl. I'll post pics when she arrives!!

Bit off topic, but can you order Dimarzios in any finish (For example, chrome?)

Cheers.

I think you can get bobbins in any color, but these came straight from Dimarzio as chrome. Type in Dimarzio Chrome on e-bay and you'll see a few pop up.

Those can be found easily on "the Bay".

Ahh the faithful RGA, their Ideal guitars if you ask me, just make you get a D-Sonic installed.

I put a set of chrome pickups in an RGA121HCDR - they look really nice. Good choice. (For the record, I didn't think anybody else like those in crushed ruby red)

Too bad there aren't RGAs with a Floyd Type system. Maybe buying one and re-routing for it might be an interesting project...

Anyway, that color rules

Not for $775

If I were buying a Jem new, Rich would be my choice all day long, but since I don't even know if I will like the guitar or not (buying it without ever holding one, I just love the looks of it), I figure I'll buy the cheapest new one I can find.

I've gotten 2 guitars from Rich, and I'll say this. They have both been the best set-up jobs that I've ever run across. I just got a Root Beer from him last week and it's awesome! Rich will get my business again I promise you that .

Yea I got it, and it is awesome! So what took the longest, setting up the guitar or packaging it? It took me FOREVER to get the damn thing unpacked!! Very nice packing job, that Root Beer could have fallen out at 35,000 feet and been alright. Thanks again!

Now, on to my new RGA 121. It just arrived today!! I'll post pics tonight, it is awesome! I'm pretty sure I'll be putting the chrome Breeds in her, but I'll give the pups that are in her a listen first.

Re: My First Non-Jem Ibanez

Packing was the easy part. Normally I'd say the fretwork but working that bug out of the trem is what definitely cost me the most time [and hair!]

Re: My First Non-Jem Ibanez

Congrats on making a daring choice. You will definitely stand out in the crowd with that one. I myself have an RGA121 with the blue-sparkle finish...I wasn't brave enough to pull the trigger on the red one.

Cheers

Re: My First Non-Jem Ibanez

I'll bet that color looks brilliant in person. It looks a little purple in most pics.
