My hat is off to Rich and my 2020x
I think some guys are sceptical about the 2020x but tonight,I played all my guitars(you name it I probably have one)and the one that played the best and sounded almost the best is my 2020x.Rich did an excellent job setting it up.I changed the pups to what I like and that is it.
If you aren't sure about this guitar,I can promise you that it sounds more solid than my two jems(BSB and BFP)The neck has no
scarf joint
.It is 3 piece(not truly 5 piece). These things make a difference in tone.I like my jems too but RIch does a great job and I think he has more of these at his place.Sorry if I am being pushy.

That must be the record setup then, how long ago did you buy that?!

Though I am sure that Rich does an excellent job setting up guitars, I have found that all RG2020X's, in general, just sound better than other similar
ibanez guitars
(especially compared to the RG3120). .

IMO setup has almost 0 to do with tone,
pickup height
would be the only thing I can think of that would effect it in any degree.

Yes, but a good setup straight out of the case makes it SEEM so ;-)

I bought it from you when it was extremely hot outside so it must have been July or something. Some guy didn't want it anymore and was bummed about a meaningless finish craxk by the headstock and he had put a tone zone/paf pro in it.I dols those pups and used what I like.
My house is extremely damp and this guitar has held up to it better than my others. These guitars really kick ass.Very well built and very stable necks.Either way,buy a 2020x or a newer 2120x and you get the same fundamental guitar.

The 3 piece
Prestige necks
have always been very stable.

2020's & 2027's are killer! change the stock pickups of course, they are truly a work of Art.

Hey Paul, what pickups did you put in there? Always looking for ideas to use on my 2020.
And I agree, they play great. I saw someone put a cool swirl on theirs (sent it to
Herc Fede
), but I still dig that turqouise.

I decided to use a
Dimarzio Norton
in the bridge(not
air norton
) because it is very close to the Duncan JB.I feel it compliments the 2020 very well. And I love the Air Norton in the neck so I went with it.I very much like the focused tone of the Air Norton as a neck pup.IT sounds great in any guitar. And I am still into colors so I ordered them in blue/violet from Dimarzio.
