My new Ibanez J-Custom... 8470F BX + review (soon pics)

Hi everybody!!

My name is Dan, and this is my first post here...
Just to share the excitment with you!!! I recently sold two of my guitars (a musicman JPM and a Parker Fly) to get my next guitar!! A J-Custom 8470 in Black onyx!!!
It's on its way to my home! according to the tracking number, it arrived and is now blocke at the border! GRRR I should get it in the next 2 days or so.. I will post pictures then.......

I already own several Ibanez: A JPM 90th anniversary, a JEM 90th anniversary, a Universe (the last one) and a J-Custom RG Gear... I'm really looking forward to get this one!!!

Anyone with a feedback on the 8470?? The only concern is about the super wizard neck.. I hope it's not too thin for me... I have huge hands

I wouldn't think you would have trouble adapting. They have the thinnest neck's this year that I know of though. Paul's got big hands and his PGM301 is now the same cut as a Super Wizard 17mm/20mm, though yours will be 17mm/19mm. Then again everyone's geared differently. I'm sure it will work out, nice collection too!

DAMN!!!!
This morning, 7:30 am: the postman rings!!!! It's HERE!!!!! My J-Custom arrived..... I had to go to work, damnit but I had time to open the case!!!!!
WOW! I cannot believe it... pictures don't do this guitar justice...
It's just wonderful... the flame is thin on this one and not very "figured", but that's tha way I like it!!! According to what I felt, the neck is just GREAT!!!!

I can't wait to come back home tonight to plug it!!!!! I'll post a detail review and pictures soon!!!

Re: My new Ibanez J-Custom... 8470F BX

Hi everybody....

I'll have some problems with my PC recently... unable to upload my pictures!!! GRRR...

However, here is a short review of this incredible guitar!!!

First, what surprised me a lot is the acoustic sound you have with this guitar when you play unplugged... very loud, warm and rich... this must be because of the mahogany body.. I don't have this kind of sound with my other basswood Ibanez.... this is good sign!!

As for the confort.. this is the best neck I have ever played!!! period.. I was a bit afraid of the super thin super wizard!! But it does not feel that thin.. very comfortable, and the velvet touch finish feels like... velvet! for almost 10 years my favorite neck has been the Petrucci one.. I have to admit this one is (almost) better...

The sound... mmmm.... creamy, powerful, and very very responsive to your playing... picking attack is greatly reflected in the sound with thes pickups... I loooove the Air Norton, this has been the best neck pickup for me for years so I did know what to expect... (along with the FRED, a super cool neck pickup also), but believe me I've played for 15 years and never tried a Tone Zone... LOL... I like it a lot... A great match with the Air Norton.... powerful enough to play some Opeth but not muddy even in this mahogany guitar... I would like this pickups to be a bit brighter, but on the other side, at least I can push the presence and treble on my amp without exploding the ears of everybody!!!!

I play it trhough my Hughes & Kettner Trilogy amp, and I must say it's sounds HUGE!!!!

It's clearly the best guitar I've ever had!! I'm soo glad!! The finish is superb and I'm happy the guitar is loaded with stainless steel frets! I think I should be the case with any high end guitar, especially the signature models!! come on Ibanez!

Soon I'll put pic, I promise!
Dan
