Re: me new prestige...

One of the best guitars I have ever played. I wanted one back when they had a "non-sparkle" finish and a slightly different coloured pick guard. Bought mine last year. I got a cracker too (they are all great, but you know how sometimes you just get a "good one"?).

Yes I know the fretboard looks dry, it's been fretdoctored since.

I do the same thing. If necessary I also clearence under the bridge to maintain the pull up range.

I think this is one of those areas that has no true right or wrong..but what feels best to the person playing it. On an Edge I do it to get the fine tuners a little farther down towards the body so there is less of a chance of my hand hitting them unintentionally. As a result of doing that I found I like the feel of the trem action with where that puts the bar in relation to the fulcrum point as well as preferring the bar itself sitting higher off the body compared to the textbook Ibanez setup.

Well, I know it's 'technically' supposed to go by where the line is on the side of the trem, but I never liked the feel of it that way. It makes the action seem higher. I know the bridge can be lowered to compensate, but I just prefer it out of the way altogether.

Re: my new prestige...

Yeah, I like it a little towards the body side. It makes the bar "higher", so it's easier to grab for little dips, a la Holdsworth/Lane.

Setting it up using only the 12th fret and it's harmonic isn't the best idea.
Oh, I know that. I just haven't tried to do it yet. The trem mechanism looks a little complicated and I've only just tackled getting the guitar in basic tune (E-A-D-G-B-E) so far, and even dropped tuned and then put it back. I have not messed with the intonation yet, but I know it definitely needs it. I know exactly what you mean by it not being in tune all over the neck.

Re: my new prestige...

Setting the intonation on an Edge is very annoying, so be prepared and be patient. It's probably much easier if you can get an intonation tool. I haven't used one, but I assume it makes the job a much quicker and more precise process.
