Talking

my new prestige...

got my rg2550 some time back... its soo awesome, i just love the looks and the feel of it...the pickups are awesome, and so is the neck, very fast, just the way i like it.had to adjust the action a bit but thats no problem. team j-craft have done an awesome job on the paint, the glossy finish looks soo cool (cooler than how it looks in the pics)

Re: me new prestige...

nice! it just needs a good trem setup and a fret polishing!

ps: what's coming out from underneath the pickguard? looks like an oversized copper shielding?

Re: me new prestige...

Congrats dude. Looks like the trem angle isn't set up correctly, but I'm not sure if that's the way you like it.

What's involved in a "trem setup"? Just setting intonation, or are there other adjustments that should be done out of the box?

Just curious because I still haven't had any sort of professional setup done on my RG20th yet.

With the Edge and Lo-Pro, the baseplate is supposed to be angled. The top of the baseplate doesn't sit parallel with the guitar's top.

The Edge Pro is different. The top of the baseplate is supposed to be parallel with the top of the body.

Adjusting the angle is a simple matter of adjusting the tremolo springs.

As for intonation, I have never played a new Ibanez guitar that's even close to playing in tune all over the neck. To set the intonation you need a decent tuner, and you should compare the fretted notes to the 12th and 24th fret harmonics. Setting it up using only the 12th fret and it's harmonic isn't the best idea.

Re: me new prestige...

Congrats. Those look mighty nice.

For trem angle I usually go by the sides of the knife edges and adjust the springs/strings until they sits level with the guitar top.

I actually have ALL my trems sitting parallel with the body -- even the Lo-Pro.
