my new rg 3270 m-tb...pickups?
Hello. I have just bought a '03 rg 3270 but it is from stocks so it has never been used before me =) It is totally new and cool =)
problem is : It has two Paf pro's which is not for me. Their output is very low and tone character is not for me. I am planning to buy 2 new humbuckers.
Seymour duncan
for
bridge position
and di marzio for neck. I want this mahogany body to sound and be a heavy guitar(but of course progressive playing which I mean shred and rhythm work together). I am planning to buy SEYMOUR DUNCAN SH-6 DISTORTION but I can't say a name for neck. I have also a jem which has evo's so I need pickups as hot as evo's but sound heavier. What should I do guys? thanks

i can't help you... (my english is very poor)

Re: my new rg 3270 m-tb...pickups?
Be warned.. if you buy a Duncan, you will have to either route the pickup cavity on your guitar or modifiy the ears on the pickup. The ears on a Duncan are square whereas Dimarzio's are Triangular.
The
pickup combination
that is generally recommended around here is the
Dimarzio Tone Zone
and Air Norton(which also comes standard in practically all Ibanez J-Customs). Why not try a set of the Dimarzio D-Activators. Or maybe a D-Sonic with an Air Norton or Humbucker from hell in the neck?
I'm with DaniJem with going for white pickups for that guitar.

Re: my new rg 3270 m-tb...pickups?
well, you could just shave the ears on the SDs, no need to route the whole thing. As for color choice, i'd rather stay with all blacks.

Nice guitar. Any chance you will be selling your neck
Paf Pro
? I am interested in buying them if you are willing to let it go. Can PM me.

Re: my new rg 3270 m-tb...pickups?
As far as I know, Air norton is not as "gainy" as
evolution neck
. I really want a
neck pickup
at least as gainy as evo maybe more, can air norton achieve that?
For bridge position, I want something what to say, "heavy". If there is no problem with dimensions or etc. I want to buy a seymour duncan for bridge, but I dont know much about seymours. It doesnt tell the output voltage on their site so I can't compare and match it with dimarzio's.

Lovely guitar !!! The Air Norton has less output than the paf pro, but is slightly 'fatter' sounding so may not be to your taste.

Re: my new rg 3270 m-tb...pickups?
If "gainy" is what you are worried about, consider this; I am mostly a brute deathmetal player, probably the most gain of any genre, and I think the air norton is perfect. In fact, I wouldn't even mind lowering the output a little.
