My new US Custom
Hi,
I just purchased today a USA Custom.
The model is UCEWQM, however something is weird. The US Custom specs sheet on the site says it was made only during 1992, and the serial is 93004.
What does that mean?
(Also, I'll post photos as soon as I'll take them
)

Re: My new US Custom
Congrats on the USA Custom purchase man!!
The neck was probably a neck that was supposed to be for an '93 batch of guitars but was used for an '92 guitar instead.
Now where are the pics!!

Re: My new US Custom
I see.
However, the neck is Birdseye maple, and I believe that only the EW series had those...
The photos will come in either later on tonight or tomorrow morning..

Re: My new US Custom
Yes, it has an AANJ, as you can see in the specs page of the USA Customs page.
About pictures, apparently my brother took the camera, so it will have to wait until tonight...
Thanks for all the greetings

Re: My new US Custom
Okay, something weird I just noticed.
When I saw it I was sure it's not a quilt top, and until my friend told me "Look, no way it's a
flamed maple
top." I didn't think otherwise.
Today as I was looking at it, the doubt about the nature (or rather, the figure) of the top began growing inside of me.
It's most certainly not a
quilted maple
on the top.
That just adds to the thought that maybe it's not an Exotic Woods guitar, the top is different, the year doesn't match.
Perhaps it's a different guitar?
But what would it be?
(Photos as soon as I hold the camera in my hands.)
Okay, I checked the galleries page again - it does seem like a quilted top.
Is it just me or the UCEWQM doesn't look as quilted as other guitars with the horizontal ripples through the wood?

Re: My new US Custom
Wood grain really varies and there are various different grades of quilts.
If it's a UCEW, the maple top on it should be fairly thick(I own one myself). Roughly abouy 20cm thick would be normal for a UCEW. I would seriously disregard the serial number issue as necks that are dated 1 year off(before or after a guitar was supposed to be made) have been found before.
It's likely that the grain on the top is either a low quality quilt (wouldn't be surprised as the UCEW line didn't get selected AAAAA tops) or just a flamed maple top with a wild flame pattern like my J-Custom RG1880s

Re: My new US Custom
Yeah, the maple is real thick, you probably meant 20mm
And yeah, it's somewhere around that.
Images are on the way

Re: My new US Custom
Here it is!
My UCEWQMTB, some of the photos are better, some are worse.

As you already know, the TB is actually green (lucky me, a colour-blind, I was sure it was blue until my friends told me it's greenish.)
