Ok so I tried to tune it a half step down today amd the bridge is so loose it just drops down. how do I tighten the bridge?

If you detune, you're unbalancing the string vs spring tension, so you need to adjust the tremolo springs accordingly.

Detune the guitar and the bridge tilts back, right? Loosen the springs by unscrewing the trem claw screws a small amount to compensate. Retune the guitar and keep making small adjustments to the screws and retuning until the bridge baseplate is level with the guitar body.

I'm experimenting with a USAC, it took me a couple of times but it's not hard to get the hang of it...

(The only sad thing is that I broke one of the studs and now I've got non-locking studs in the bridge )
