My S2020x rare or just really cool ?

Dear Jemsite, i've gotten my hands on a nice Japanese made S series guitars. IT appears to be a 2001 or 2002 and i believe it's from some exclusive japanese made S prestiges. If i remembered correctly, all the S's, including the prestiges, were fabricated in Korea for a while by then. Anyways, the good thing about this one, is the double edge, what an awesome tool. To top it off, this guitar has a killer look to it. Classic and tasty. I've always loved the edge, but i like the Lo-pro's better than the zero's they put on them now. Nothing against the trems, but i like to stick to what i know.

This guitar is a dream and perfect with my two other ibby's. All i gotta do now is replace those icky qm pick ups. My 550's pick-ups are stock, and with good reason too, but these just blow :P.

Re: My S2020x rare or just really cool ?

hey Fender... those S2020X's are sweet... neck's almost like the current S Wizard Prestige but "chunkier" + satin finish (it feels like satin?), especially >12th fret.
What's really odd about yours is the 12th fret double dot inlay. These S2020's usually have the "wave" inlay. Anyhow, one of my buddies bought one new back in '01 and it has been his main player since then. It's withstood gigs and the sustain can last for aeons... the next (and last) mod he wants to perform on his axe is get the magnetic/piezo/blend mod going...
anyhow, here's a pic of my friend's S2020X with Paf Pro + D Sonic next to my stock S5470 (when it was still fresh and before the pup upgrades):

and oh ya, the QM's are not bad... but a pup upgrade is necessary with these S's ya know... and installing new pups in S2020X are almost absurd especially when you don't have a VLX91 diagram

I've got a S2120X (same one with more switching options for the piezzo and active 2 band EQ for the piezzo outpout)
It also has an Ultra neck, instaed of the wizzard !

Reaaly awesome guitar, that can easily compare to nowadays signatures

Hummm... piezo guitars make me drooooooool!

I have a Yamaha RGX-820Z, which is almost an S (winglet-shapped body) but with a more vintage neck. It also has piezos.
I love that baby!!!

Actually, I did an A-B test with a S-620X, and I prefered the RGX! Don't crucify me...
(The RGX is cheaper... has 2 Duncans... alder body, flamed maple top... and I liked the RGX's sound better.)

Re: My S2020x rare or just really cool ?

A friend of mine alse has one of those S2020 with double dots instead of the wave inlay. I've looking for it in some Ibanez catallogs bit didn't found it. It a cool guitar.

What the matter with that guitars?
Why don't appear in the catallogs?

You're question makes no sense .

Inlay differences occur sometimes, i don't think it has anything to do with the model since this is such a short ran model.

nice guitar!

Oooh crap.. manuals? (I should't post when im a about to sleep)

I was trying to say catallogs, I looked for that guitar (with double dot inlay) in the 2001, 2002 catallogs but I dind't found it. I was curious about it and that's the reason for my first post.

Re: My S2020x rare or just really cool ?

I had the 2020ex but exchanged it back for the 2120exav :P which is one year newer and has a toggle switch rather than push pull! The one you have is a 2000, the later one was the 2001. This was the last year they were made. IMO best guitar ever made...dont know why you think the pickups sound "icky"...I think they sound brilliant...qm's are lush :P

Ooo also the 2120 had not only a knob to adjust piezo volume, but also the treble and bass. Dont think the 2020 had this
