New guitar decision

I need some help here picking out a guitar here guys. Basically what im looking for is a RG prestige (or atleast something without one of the crap ibanez trems, which makes older rg's an option) that is HSH. Some things that i would prefer is a maple fretboard, flame top, or a pickguard (not both of course). I really like the mirage blue finish on the rg1570 though. Or for this, do you think i should just go HSS with charvel/jackson? I mean, somewhat of a unique finish is nice to have, as opposed to the standard "metal" guitar, black with black hardware and a maple fretboard. I'd like to stay away from older guitars though, so if it could be from within the past 15 years that'd be pimpin. Pickups really dont matter that much, since i'll be switching them out at some point, or i'll just deal with the ceramic magnets. I'm willing to go used, of course, and my price limit is 800 USD. (that'd be sweet if i could find a 20th RFR rg550, but thats not realistic.)

Thanks in advance guys.

Re: New guitar decision

I have the RG1570 mirage blue and it is brilliant, but I'm sure not everyone would like the finish/color I love everything about the guitar except the pickups, which I'm swapping out this weekend. The factory setup on mine was a problem, however, and I've had to send it back for a replacement.

Sadly I don't see a lot of RGs today (new) with maple fretboard and flame top.

As soon as I saw that I was thinking "Carvin". Heffergm's Carvin is dead gorgeous.

Thought someone was selling a good RG for 850 in the classifieds.

Re: New guitar decision

I would personally wait for a cool oldschool japanese rg to turn up... if you don't mind the old neck joints.

Yeah, if you have 800 bucks to spend I'd wait for what you want the most rather than grab the best available guitar today. 800 is very close to RG20th prices.
