NGD: Ibanez RG2550E

I've had some cash lying around since last year to buy myself a new guitar. I was really stoked when the genesis collection came out and was about to purchase one of the 550's in DY through global rakuten (yes they do ship internationally). However, after trying an '88 RG560 from a friend, the excitement went away. The neck is too thin for my taste and from what I know, the genesis collection has the same neck like the guitar I tested. That experience puts me away from Ibanez for a while and I was really considering an Edwards E-LP-98lts which is an LP shaped guitar given that I already have 2 superstrats (an Indonesian Ibanez PGM3 & a Japanese Jackson DK2M). However, this baby showed up on my local listing a few days ago and I suddenly got curious. The owner had it listed for BND 1,000 which is around $800 US. I texted him and he agreed to let it go for BND 850 (US $675). I got even more excited so we set up a meeting at his house. Damn was I shocked that this guitar looks literally unplayed. There are no dings and scratches whatsoever. The hardware shows very little sign of blemishes and no rusts at all. The owner basically bought this guitar, played it a few times, and kept it in the case as he did not like the feel of the neck. He's a Satch fan and has a few JS which are his main guitars.

The minute I played it, the neck feels so perfect on my hand. It's like a match made in heaven I gave him the cash and walked away smiling throughout the day. This is the best deal I've ever got in my entire life and from this day onwards, I vow to only buy Ibanez guitars.

p/s: sorry for the long story, I'm so bored in the office right now

Uh, no, the neck the Genesis collection has is the same as modern day prestiges, 5 piece maple/walnut stripes. Honestly they play no different than my RG1550, except for the square heel neck joint.

Also, Happy NGD I have the RG2550Z, which instead of the Edge pro bridge, has the Edge Zero. Basically same guitar Mine is in white though. The pups are a DREAM. I love them so much I dont even wanna change em out.

Not really though. The thickness on the genesis is 17mm at the 1st fret and 19mm on the 12th. The 2XXX RGs however is 18mm and 20mm respectively. That 1mm really does make a difference

You got a great deal on that guitar! Like Matias, I have a 2550z but mine is in galaxy black and I love that guitar...I own 5 MIJ Ibanez guitars including 2 prestige models and a Jem and the 2550z is as nice as anything I've played by Ibanez....really great guitars! congratulations!

haha, thanks but no thanks, the stock pickups is perfect for my setup which consists of a Suhr Riot, TC Electronic Nova System straight to a Hughes&Kettner TubeMeister 36 head with a 2x12. I couldn't ask for more

Hey, congratulations Mc tharow. That's a helluva nice MIJ to start with. I'm sure it sounds like a tone MONSTER through you H&K rig!!! The Tubemeister series are some amazing sounding amps and the 2x12 is perfectly voiced to bring out the best of the head.

FWIW, don't ever be afraid to try out other "golden era" RG's. Each of the necks on them were hand finished. No two were ever identical. Your bound to find one with a neck as comfortable as your 2550 at some point.

Yeap, thinking of getting the 670AH at rakuten, but they don't have any stock anymore, any idea where I can snatch one?

If you're talking about the Genesis collection ones, most of them are sold out, and if they aren't, they are sold at stores that do not do international orders.
