now that the RG1570 has a prestige neck, what is the playing

difference between it and the RG3120? just from a playability standpoint?
The new 1570 is only $569 new and a used rg3120 can be had for that as well? which now is the better choice? I would not likely keep the tone zone in the bridge spot of the 3120,so that would have to be swapped but that would be about it on that one..
and the V series pups on the 1570 would have to go and that would be that?
does the mahogany/maple offer a huge improvement over the basswood RG?.

1570: 559
3120: 1120

About your last question, yes; the 3120 has a nice thick tone, it´s
a great instrument. And the neck is thinner and faster.

The mahogany body will give you a bit of a smoother tone............i feel that if you are looking for a crunchy tone that a basswood body is a little better.....barely noticeable at a loud volume though

They have the same neck profiles. They are both wizard style necks. Both made in the same factory. Odditys of otherworking aside the neck profile should be identical and anything you noticed is most likely just a fluke

I've played a 1570, talk about thin necks! The 1550 and 1570 are incredible deals, I paid more than that for my first 550 in '87 or '88.

wizard necks are not all the same width. For some reason the 3120 has a thinner neck then your standard wizards.

Have any of you guys measured the necks, (Wizard or Super Wizard) or are you just guestimating? I'm gonna have to dig out my calipers and measure my '93 RG550 Wizard and the Super Wizard RG3120 neck that has been installed on my '03 RG1550. I honestly can't tell the difference. One has the maple board and the other, rosewood. I've also recently traded away an '01 RG570, and that neck appeared to have the same thickness as the other two.

Im just guestimating. so I'll be convinced if you get proper caliper readings. but the 3120's neck feels thinner than other wizard necks
