When I got my RGA121 I noticed that it badly needed to be set up. The intonation was all off, there was buzzing here and there, etc. Well, I went and got it set up and when I got it back it was like the tech didn't do jack **** other than set the intonation. There's as much buzzing as before, the bridge wasn't raised or lowered, the neck wasn't changed at all, etc.
One of the main things that I needed fixed was that the guitar flat out dies at the 12th fret. I mean DIES a horrible death. Press the 12th fret then pluck and you might get 3 seconds of sustain before there is zero sound on the G string and the other strings are bad too (that's with distortion on). I thought it was just a matter of fretting out, which would have been fixed after a set up.
Anyway, now I'm wondering if maybe the buzzing/fretting out maybe being contributed to by the bridge being tilted in the wrong position. My Gibraltar Plus bridge rocks slightly on the pegs but is held tightly when the pressure of the strings is applied. This would completely normal if not for the fact that is almost seems like the screw pegs are ever so slightly leaning forward. With the bridge leaning forward a bit plus it being pulled forward may be equalling a to low string position and be killing sustain. It definitely seems like the strings are sitting on the saddles with much pressure (certainly not like with a tune-o-
matic bridge).
Can someone tell how evenly their RGA's Gibraltar Plus bridge is sitting with the body of the guitar (maybe post a close up pic) and if their RGA has a decent amount of sustain all over the neck? I'll try to post some pics of my guitar's body to close up to show the angle of the bridge.
