Re: Opinions needed on Ibanez RG-1620X

I had one when it was just the rg620 and it was a really nice guitar. The electric sounds were what you'd expect from and RG, but I was really impressed with the piezos - and I usually don't like piezos! The combination sounds were really interesting too. Sold it in a really stupid GAS attack - I won't even tell you what I got in return!
But I miss that guitar.

Re: Opinions needed on Ibanez RG-1620X

i have the 620x version (still mint- i don't take it to gigs, only lessons) and love the simplicity of two hums. no mid pup getting in the way. the finish is nice (galaxy black) for a black guitar since it is different from a standard gloss black.
it still has V7/V8 pups so the RG factor is very big but the piezo does add a nice twist to the tonal variety. i would have a hard time selling mine.

Re: Opinions needed on Ibanez RG-1620X

One of my students bought a 620x 2 years ago on a close out and the guitar was fine overall. Some Ibanezes can be lemons, especially if you get them from Guitar Center. But generally, good retailers stock better guitars.

The piezo (double Edge) system is the smae as it is in the 2020x and the sound quality is nice. I've compared the double edge sound to the Music Man Petrucci model piezos nad the Double Edge sounds a little fuller.

The only thing I dont' know is if the 1620x has a scarf joint or not. Otherwise, it should be the same guitar as the old 620x

Re: Opinions needed on Ibanez RG-1620X

I have a 620x, and I love the piezos. They sound very nice and make the guitar tremendously versatile. I'm rather surprised that Ibanez doesn't use the Double EdgePro design in more of its higher-end guitars. As far as I know, it's the only double-locking piezo bridge out there.

I would guess that the 1620x has the exact same neck as the RG1570, which doesn't have the scarf joint. My 620x has a neck with a 570 stamp on the heel.
