Opinions on RG8570M

I managed to have the good opportunity to try a 8670 Dark Red last week. It looks fantastic. Classy. However, it appears that the neck don't really suit me. Thank goodness I would have to spend a good SGD3150 on the guitar. It's pretty sad cos I have been longing to own a 8760 especially Black Onyx and Tree of Life inlay but I understand from Ishibashi that Ibanez is continuing all colours from that model and only Dark Red is left with a few pieces. So if anyone is keen to own one...better take ur chance now.

I kinda prefer slight thicker necks now after spending quite some time on my JPM. 8670 necks are kinda thinner. But I have found sometimes really close and infact slightly thicker than JPM neck. That's the 8570M ...I always wanted maple fingerboard. They are slightly less costly and comes in 2 finishing. Vintage Violin and Translucent Blue. I was wondering if anyone owns one....and is willing to share their pics and comments. I do know that's there is a regular here who own VV but havent seen any TB photographs before. I'm leaning more to TB hehe. Thanks alot.

Re: Opinions on RG8570M

I am not sure if I am the "regular" that you are referring to, but here are some *pics* of mine.

I havn't had mine all that long, but so far I love it. I typically have issues about spending over $1000-$1200 for a bolt-on guitar, but in this case it was well worth it. I am use to playing my RGT3120 which has the Ultra neck, so in comparision the JCRG8570M neck feels really thin. I have never played on a JPM neck, so I am not able to offer a comparison on that point.

The sound on this is smooth with a bit of bite (brightness) on the high-end. I am not hardcore enough into pickups to really judge the value of the stock pickups vs changing them out on this model, but to my ear they are great for the style that I play (blues/rock).

Re: Opinions on RG8570M

Hey Darkstar,

Yeah I was referring to you. Your pictures are really well taken. If the 8570M neck really that thin? Cos I did some research on the neck dimension. The IBanez japanese site stated that it is 19.5mm at first fret and 21.5 at 12th fret in thickness and width is 42mm. I think RGT3120 is the same thickness just that it's broader with a 43mm neck right? I'm quite concern over this as I find the regular RG neck and even 8670 kinda thin. Really need your advice as it's pretty hard to find 8570M users around. Thank you so much.

To me the thickness of the two neck feels very close. The JC neck is just a little thinner. The noticable difference as you had mentioned is in the width of the neck with the Ultra being wider.

Hope this helps...
