Would I open a very big can of worms if I asked what the difference is in this case?
It says prestige on the headstock, but it s advertised as a J-Custom on sites that stock it, also the receipt from the shop and the guy there say it's a J-custom... I'm slightly confused to be honest! What gives?

Good question, I too have seen a prestige range with a J Custom case and a J custom tag.

First, if it doesn't say J Custom on the headstock, it isn't. Second, it's doesn't have a J Custom serial number so it's not even JC shop build [like some models badged Prestige are]. Even if it was, it would still be Prestige.

Interesting.

So where exactly on the headstock would it say J Custom, and then what exactly is a J Custom?

What is the difference between Team J Craft and J Custom?

Unfortunately, shops often don't know what they have or they over sell. Whether it's intentional or ignorant is impossible to tell. Either way, they usually aren't experts.

Oh I see... that makes sense. What i don't understand is why would 3 UK shops (Major ones too) would advertise them as J-Customs?

It's actualy a Europe only special Prestige. Was meant as J custom for European customers. It's not quite a J custom, but it's better than your average Prestige.

I see, I would have thought so if it was just one small shop doing it or something, but everywhere I look they advertise it as a J-Custom... A bit of (un?)intentional disinfo by the importer to the UK maybe? or something else?

Re: Post pictures of your Prestiges or J-Customs...

3270 were not Europe only, standard Prestige production model in Japan. They are not JC built and are straight Prestige quality only. I have seen and passed on many of them. I bought the 2680M I have because it is JC built, but it's badged Prestige and so, it's still a Prestige.

There is no such thing as a J Custom case [except the ones HUSA put the 97' JC imports and 90ths in] and no such thing as a JC tag.
