Prestige 2610E pickup cavity problems!

Alright guys !

Ive made a post about this before but didnt go too in depth.

I bought a new ibanez 2610e , and tried to mount an emg 81 in it.
But the pickup cavity is too shallow to house the emg and allow for proper string clearance. Im just wondering has anyone had the same problem with this guitar, or any other guitar for that matter? Ive played for 12 years and have never encountered this problem , its always been one size fits all in my experience.

Also can anyone give me information on getting it routed out - if there are any drawbacks or complications that could occur, as i dont want to wreck my new baby!

Much appreciated dudes

you could try shimming the neck. the most times, a slight increase in body-to-neck angle is enough to get proper clearance between pickup and strings, even more with active EMGs which are supposed to be set as nearest as possible to the strings.
or, give it a route, but don't sink it too much or you could be opening a hole onto the springs cavity and looking thru your guitar

Silence! lol !

The old emg's get a lot of criticism, but for the music i play (mainly power / prog metal ) theyre the shizznit. They give great attack and total silence once you stop picking , no fade out or hiss, total control.

I really dont want a hole right through my guitar lol, so ill have to find a highly skilled luthier.

Argh! I hate getting a new guitar and having problemssss !
Cheers for the responses guys !

I wonder if a Seymour Duncan Blackout would fit.

Just did a bit of reading and youtubing on those duncan blackouts, they seem pretty good and claim to have "more tone" than emgs.

Now i have to ask the ridiculous question , if anyone knows what are the dimensions of this pickups? I dont wanna spend another £50 to get an unsatisfactory pickupppp

Blackout dimensions:

Invader dimensions:

It seems the Blackouts are actually a little bit shorter than the Invader.

Cheers for the measurements man.

Just measured up, its the same size as the emgs, from mounting foot to top surface, so it looks like ill be getting it routed!

Damn, now im worried theyll route right through into the trem cavity ! ARGH!
Ibanez made a real screwup on this one !
