Prestige Deluxe Custom
Picked this up today off a friend of
John Petrucci
's. He says the guitar is one of John's old one's but I can't prove it without actually asking John to verify it through another friend of mine, John Arch
Other then that, could someone give me some info about this, like what year it was made, value as a USA Prestige Deluxe?
Thanks, I play Dean guitars exclusively so this one is not really my bag, I just could not turn it down after I played it though
The axe shreds like no ones business, ultrafast neck etc...
The guitar has sat in the case for the last 3 years so I am going to dust it off and give her a good workout LOL
Thanks!

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
Made in Japan, 1990. Looks to be a standard 540R (Radius) model.

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
its a 1989-90 540R. nothing too out of the ordinary with this one, although black ones are rarer breeds here. i have an 88 model of the same guitar. the main differences between mine and yours is the dot size, the custom inlay and the stamping of the pickups. its hard to say if that was actually JP's axe. he wasn't known for the radius. in the 92 catalog he had said that ibanez gave him a satriani and maxxas for his initial endorsement, but no mention of a radius. if i were you, i would take it with a grain of salt and do further investigating to ensure the validity of that claim.

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
Someone said MIJ??? Even though it has a USA badge on the back???
How do you read the serial number to get a date of 1989-90?
Original case says Prestige Deluxe
Sorry for my lack of knowledge about these newer Ibanez's. I had Destroyers and Iceman's as a kid, nothing like this
As for the Petrucci claim, I just mentioned it since the original owner knows him and made the claim. I personally don't care but it makes for an interesting story
Thanks

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
Serial number on the back of the headstock starts with F, therefore indicates the guitar was made in the FujiGen factory, Japan. The 0 following the F indicates year of manufacture = 1990. Some
Ibanez guitars
around this time were assembled in the USA from Japanese parts, hence the
neck plate
. Technically they are still MIJ.

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
The "custom made" inlay makes me wonder though.

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
Thanks for the info! I believe the guy I got it from might have been eating something illegal w/ his JP story but the guitar is worth the $250 I paid for it regardless

Loads of Ibanez had this. It's very deceiving.

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
Most people call R's JS's anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if JP made that mistake also

Re: Prestige Deluxe Custom
for $250 who cares if it was JP´s or not? you´ve got a great guitar there and it would still be the same guitar if JP used it or not, besides I think he would not have kept the stock pups there instead of throwing in some dmz
