Prestige (RG1527) neck question
Hey guys.
As many of you might remember, I had a 2008 RG1527RB. And as I'm sure you could tell, I loved that guitar to death. I could never get any guitar to play or sound as good as that beast. The action was the lowest I've ever played on and it still resonated as if the action were 5mm off the fretboard. But in reality I think it was about 1mm. No buzz. Even on the lowest string.
Anyway, all I want to know is how consistent the
neck
feels and shapes are on the Ibanez Prestige models. Because I've played a couple 2006
RG1527
's and it just wasn't the same.
So if I find myself another 2008, how close will it be to my original and most beloved? Because no guitar on this planet has ever felt that good.
I also know that Prestige necks are finished, to some extent, by hand. Which leaves me to believe that I will never have a neck feel that good again.
Thanks guys. Sorry for the depressing thread. I just miss that thing and would give anything to have it back.

Re: Prestige (RG1527) neck question
Since each neck is finished by hand, it's entirely possible that you could find one you like better than the one you had. Just because you loved that one, that doesn't mean you had THE best example. In fact, doesn't Mr. Vai try out several examples before he finds the one he prefers?
Btw, what made you get rid of it? The pack rat in me is always curious about other people's motivations. There's always a part of me that says "you'll regret it".

Re: Prestige (RG1527) neck question
I made a trade that I thought would be great. It sort of was too. I got a custom Swamp Ash RG565 with a Bareknuckle Painkiller in the bridge. I have the pictures in an older thread of mine if you want to see.
That 565 really kicked ass but it just wasn't the same.
As for finding a better neck, I'm not sure about that. I say that because there was literally nothing I disliked about it. It fit my hang like a glove.
Sadly, I didn't know enough about guitars at the time to realize the catch I reallying had.

Oh, and in case you're ever in a similar situation, an RG7620 is not as great of a substitute as you'd think.

Re: Prestige (RG1527) neck question
Ive found that both 1527's and 7620's (no matter what years) all played and felt different. A good friend of mine has a 98 7620 RB and it killed my old 99 7620....Ive played a few 1527's and some I loved and some I hated.....
I would go on GC used in your area, craigslist, etc.....just find as many as you can, have cash ready see if you find something you like. Also, you never know whats coming out in 2013.....maybe something new to save for......

Here here!!!
I told you we can shape your 7620 neck to be whatever you want. You just have to be willing to take it apart for a while.........LOL

Re: Prestige (RG1527) neck question
I've already slimmed the neck down too much.
But I think I'm going to put off the search for the perfect RG1527 for now.
Next on the list after more cables is an S540OL. I just helped my friend score an S540FMTT and now I'm feeling a bit jealous haha.

Re: Prestige (RG1527) neck question
I wonder if '08 was a particularly good year. My 1527 is an 08 and when I first picked it up to play it, I literally said in my head, "Oh my god! This neck is perfect!" I couldn't afford the guitar, so I bought it anyway haha... Of all my guitars, it is the one with the best neck for sure.

I think that
2008
was when they made the switch from the Ultra 7 neck to the Wizard Prestige 7 neck. Maybe the 2009 to 2011 feel similar.

Re: Prestige (RG1527) neck question
DM, have you tried out the RGD2127z? Not sure if you tune to A but I bought one before I got my JPXI-7. Only reason why I took it back and spent more for the JP was I really like to tune to B standard, however for the few days I had the 2127 I was very impressed with how it handled....
The neck is very comfy.....

I actually HAVE played one and loved it to death. And as it turns out, I do tune to A. I would love to own one of those too. Maybe even more than another RG1527

I had a hard time trying to justify why I tune to B standard but at the end of the day I like B standard more. I tuned the 2127 to B with 9's and it did well but not as well as my JPXI-7.....
For A the 2127 is where its at.....It might be my next purchase as I would like an A standard guitar now....
