quick question about rg1570
Hey guys! I just got my first prestige yesterday and I absolutely love it! I just have a quick question I'm sure some of you could answer...
On the v7-v8-s1 pickups, are the logos supposed to be on the pickups? for instance, should my bridge pickup have a v-8 on it?
I ask because I got this guitar used at guitar center for $500 and it was in mint condition, but comparing it with guitars online i noticed it doesn't have pickup logos....is it possible I got upgraded pickups like Dimarzio?

Re: quick question about rg1570
The standard pickups on the RG1570 do have V7/V8/etc on them. It's possible they're upgraded pickups.

Re: quick question about rg1570
OMG OMG REALLY? lol
I was kinda thinking they were when I started looking at other 1570's.
So, If I pull the pickups out and look on the bottom, is there a good chance there will be a brand name stamped on the bottom like Dimarzio?
Sorry if this seems dumb, but in my 8 yrs of playing i've always just used stock pickups out of lack of money lol so I'm pretty new to identifying pickups and whatnot

The V7 and V8 pickups are made by Ibanez and are NOT Dimarzio's.

Read it again. He said it looks as though the pickups have been replaced and may not be a V7 and V8 at all, hence the curiosity and the need to check the bottom of the pickups to find out what they actually are.

Re: quick question about rg1570
It's also possible that the logo has worn off though I doubt it in this case. Maybe it's been upgraded, could have been downgraded as well. You could maybe find out by looking at the pickup by unscrewing it. If you could post pics it might help someone here to ID it.

There's definately never been a logo on the top of these pickups to wear off. I'm working on pics right now but I can tell you that on both my neck and bridge pick up I have adjustable (flathead screwdriver) polepieces, as well as air holes (i think) between the E and A and the B and E.
I'll get pictures asap

Going by your description there's a chance they could well be Seymour Duncan's.

Re: quick question about rg1570
They def look like newer pickups. Gotta pull them out and take a picture of the backside of the pickup. Put a really bright light against it and on the camera put it on the flower (macro mode), don't hold it too close and just focus and take the pic.

Re: quick question about rg1570
Well guys, I have a 5 am flight on monday to South Carolina so I was going to wait until I got back to change the strings and inspect the pickups...
But I just couldn't resist, so I unscrewed the pickup, whammy'd the strings down, flipped it up, and this is what i seen
F
DIMARZIO PICKUPS
MADE IN USA
US pat 4,501,185
US pat 5,399,802
(153 handwritten at the bottom)
I only did the neck pickup because it was the only one I could take out this way, and I'll check the bridge as soon as I get back, but this proves my theory of the upgraded pickups
Now can anybody identify my neck pickup based on this info?
thx for all the help
*EDIT I tried taking several pictures while I had the pickup flipped up but every one of em looked blurry and unreadable, guess I need to invest in a new cam next

Useful link for you, like mentioned above, no need to remove strings.
