Re: Rare Ibanez guitars..

I'm digging the Tom Anderson "Drop Top" wannabe RG. Very nice.

As for the first guitar, I'm not really sure whether that is really a custom shop model, jem's are kinda exclusive to Vai himself. A closeup picture of the inlay at the 24th fret would be nice though.

As for the last picture...A C Chord always works just fine!

Thanks for posting these pics.

Re: Rare Ibanez guitars..

The top one looks like the original Bad Horsie guitars (not the new mirror topped ones, the old ones you can see on his website).

Re: Rare Ibanez guitars..

You are wondering about the third guitar from the top.
It's a 540P series. To be specific a 540PTC. P stands for power series and Tc for triple coil, which is the pu ofcourse. There's one on **** right now if I'm not mistaken. You don't see them too often but they're not the rarest of the rarest. Satriani played them in the early days.

Re: Rare Ibanez guitars..

Do Tom Anderson's even come with 24 frets and contoured neck heels?

The Drop top mock, is very nice.

As for the PG one, I think it's just a standard RG from the old days, with a few mods have course.

She looks like she is about to go to a prom or something. haha.

Re: Rare Ibanez guitars..

That 'drop top' one is a MRG-4 it was a special edition J-Custom spot production model for Kurosawa gakki. There's also a MRG-5 which was the same thing without the pickguard but also had the vine of life inlay.

Nothing too special on this one other than the fact that is has a sunburst finish with an Ebony fretboard. (Oh yeah and gold hardware)

Btw. Almost all the Ibanez J-Custom tops are drop tops since a 'Drop Top' is really just a top that is bend(ie. dropped) into place and not carved.

I own this one. The pic shows the wrong color. It's not pink. It's actually more of a purple.

Very very cool. That PG guitar color does seem really off in the photo.

Re: Rare Ibanez guitars..

Like any bride would be caught playing a guitar with her wedding-day manicure!

The first guitar says "RG Series" on the headstock but seems to have the BSB/DBK-style "Philips head" dot inlays. The body looks like a laminate of ash or walnut over mahogany, and that looks like a fake carbon-fibre pickguard. The only thing that says "JEM" about that one is the monkey grip handle. I suspect it wasn't made by Ibanez at all... it seems like a lot of aftermarket mods to me.
