RG 2020x and 2120x ground loops/hum

I never really bothered to run my magnetics and piezo through the seperate jacks before.I noticed ground hum through my main rig when I inserted a cable into the piezo output.

I am curious if you 2120x users notice the same thing. How abot the Wiring mod for the 2120x? ANy improvement on ground loop hum with that mod? Thanks.

I remember the first time I tried to run both magnetic and piezo simultaneously, I got the same thing. I still have not found a solution; kind of makes the dual output feature useless.

I forgot to mention that I also have an RG2020X, not an RG2120X. Does this problem also exist on the 2120's or just the 2020's

i have an rg2120x and i have no problems of any kind. mine is a 2002 model and has the 2-band eq. the way i run it is, i use a 1/4" TRS stereo cable and a Y on both ends. the single stereo jack for the mags/piezo used alone has a "summed" type of sound. like they bleed into each other. even with this, tho, i have no grounding issues.

I haven't had this specific problem, but I did have some pretty major ground loop issues when I first setup my Mark IV rig. I would get loops between the amp and G-major, and also between the amp and pedalboard.

Then I picked up one of these (Ebtech Hum Eliminator) and all my problems went away:

$60 sounded like a lot to me at first, but once I tried it, I kicked myself for having not purchased it sooner.

haven't had a problem so far with the 2120x but there could be a couple of reasons - have you checked your cables? good cables including power cables can make a lot of difference. we use 3 pin plugs (UK stlye) here in Malaysia for everything

the cables are good.MY friend Bruno told me ground loops are commonplace with this type of set up.ACcording to him, I need to lift the ground on the amp that my piezo is going to.OR ofcourse use a ground eliminating device. On occasion, I can use the piezo going to a PA and something like the EBtech can be veyr cool.AS far as I know, the 2120x should experience the same ground loops thing as my 2020x
