RG 2550EGK (HSH) vs. RGT42DXFM (HH)

i'm thinking of http://ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp...=RGT42DXFM&z=y and Ibanez RG 2550EGK. I'm learning towards the RGT because I like the smooth feel of the neck/body transition. But this always bothers me. Which setup has better overall sound? Double Humbucker setup w/o the single coil, or the Double Humbucker setup w/ the single coil in between. As for dimarzio pickups vs. ibz pickups, I don't care because I will replace them anyways.

I've got an RGT and they are ACE! I also have a 7V and i don't miss the single coil on the HH config. Depends entirely wether you want and will use the single coil. I personally never use it so to me it is redundant. The single coil only affects the sound if you're gonna use it.

The RG2550 (as a Prestige) is a much better guitar than the RGT42. I played a RGT42DXFM the other day and I thought it was mediocre at best. You'd have to compare an RGT220 or RGT320 to the RG2550 for it to be a fair comparison.

I never use my center single coils either so they are valueless to me.

The problem I see with the RGT is that it isn't prestige, so the neck will be a crapshoot. Some necks that roll out of Korea really aren't bad at all, but others are just horrid - I'd probably go with the 2550, especially since the pups and bridge are good right out.

RG2550 would be my choice too. It's a good guitar and the stock pickups aren't that bad but not the best. It feels really great and it's more versatile than the RGT42 because it has a middle single coil. And the quality is probably little bit better on RG2550 since it is made in Japan.

Yea go with the 2550 I would say. I own one and the neck is great. I use the single coil a lot for clean tones.

The 2550 for me, I like using the in between pickup, more tonal option
