Cool

Rg 2820 Cttv

I have a lovely RG2820 CTTV This is a limited run 2003 prestige model with the J-Custom style tree of life inlay. Full specs as follows:

24 fret "Ultra" profile maple neck
Mahogany body w/quilt maple top
Rosewood 'board w/tree of life inlay in pearl and abalone
Matching headstock
DiMarzio/Ibz humbuckers
3-way switch (position 2 either taps both pickups or connects them in series, not quite sure on that one)
Edge Pro trem
Gotoh Tuners

The guitar is absolutely beutiful, and highly playable (as I always find every ibanez I've tried so far) .. anyway..

to the point:

I have some stratocasters and I always modify them alittle (using deaf-eddies custom pots ..and a neck "on" switch) to get more tonal option.

Now when it comes to this Rg2820 it has this three way LP-style switch knob, and the tonal variation is nothing to mention, I wished they had some more creativity on such a beutiful instrument ...

Does anyone know about a modification that can be done in the way to increase the tonal options using custom pots or to change that switch ...
I do not want to modify the wood on the guitar otherwise I would have had a pro to mount a single coil and a 5-way switch or something ..

Anyone have an idea?

thanks for reading this..
have a good one

Use a coil-tap to split the coils. You can have one instelled on one of your pots, and you wouldn't have to visually modify your guitar.

You could get a push-pull pot to make one of the pickups go out of phase i guess.

Thanks for the answers!

Do you know where I could find a drawing for such a wireing setup?
I know how to solder and stuff but I do not have any electrical skill at all.

I think it is a pitty they didn't use a 5way selector switch instead of that LP-style 3 way setup ...

As a matter of fact, I've come to the point where I think it sucks not having more sound-coloring options ...

thanks again
