RG ??
Hi, I got a question here, well it's for a friend really, he's got this
Ibanez
RG axe, but he doesn't know what kind of RG it is, neither do I for that matter lol, here's the scoop, the front of the headstock reads....RG series. The back of the headstock reads....F0225709.
It's made in Japan also. It's got 2 hum. and a single coil, 5 way selector.
Can anyone tell me what in the world is it ?

Re: RG ??
Not enough information.
Color, neck material, inlays, pickguard, etc.?

Re: RG ??
Can't you tell with the numbers on the back ?? uhm, let me think, it's grey,
rosewood neck
, just regular dot inlays, no pickguard, 24 frets, v8 and v7 pick-ups. I don't know what else to tell.

Ok, based on production year and your description, I was going to say RG270, but then thought no it's probably an RG1570 ('02 production by serial #, but late 2002, so probably for the 2003 product line).

Re: RG ??
no way it could be an RG2XX...
the "RG Series" means that the
guitar
was around before the Prestige label was applied... closest thing is in my mind so far is an RG570 in Gray Nickel. If that's the case, neck should have the bubinga stripe and original Edge trem in powder cosmo/gun metal gray.

Why do you think RG570GN and not RG1570GN? (unless I read the 2003 catalog incorrectly)

Well, the headstock should say "Ibanez Prestige" if it was a 1570...
and i've seen/played/setup such a guitar with the F02xxxxx serial; one of my friend's has one.
The 02 serial number could mean the guitar was made late 2002 or it was made right during the Prestige transition i.e. a 570 neck on a 1570 body...

Ok, that's cool. I was trying to find a match in the 2002 and 2003 catalogs and didn't see 570s in there, unless I missed it (which is very possible).

Take the neck off and see what it says or post a pic.

Re: RG ??
the thick stripe points to it most likely being a 570.
