RG tone pot problem

Hey, I wonder if any of you could help me. About 4 months ago I bought a lovely new RG2550 Prestige... it's a brilliant guitar, plays awesome, sounds immense thru my AVT50 Combo, but I have a problem with it. The tone pot doesn't seem to work.

Turning it down, the pot doesn't have any affect on the sound until you get down to about the last 20% of travel, then the sound cuts out all together - at this point it's like it's functioning as a volume pot. This happens on all pickup settings so it's definately the pot. The volume pot itself is working perfectly fine, as are the pickups.

I never really use the tone pot since my AVT50 is a very warm sounding amp anyway, and I don't find the DiMarzio/IBZ pickups brittle sopunding - they sound very nice. However, it's just a small niggle, and I wondered if any of you could help me in diagnosing the fault and rectifying it.

P.S. While I mention it I'm also new around here... I've been a fan of Ibanez RGs, Jems and UVs for some time - I was originally a Strat man but I tried an RG in my local shop and my life was changed. The 2550 is my first Ibanez and it will certainly not be the last!!!

Cheers,

Re: RG tone pot problem

I actually find the vol pot on my 2550 to be quite 'quick' to respond as well, although my tone pot is fine...but I rarely use it. It seems that full on, or full off, is the only real way to change the tone. If I were you just take it to a shop and let em test it out....even better if you bring it to where you bought it. Good luck!
