Question

RG1550FM with BareKnuckle pickups ?

hello... (wrong title: its RG1550FM, no 1150)

I just bought a Prestige Ibanez RG-1550FM (2004) and it has bare knuckle pickups.
the seller told my that they are Holydiver model zebra.

what do you know about these bareknuckle pickups?

RG1550FM:

I also bought a dimarzios Tone Zone and Paf Joe in white color for this guitar.
so I will put on sale these bareknuckle pickups. but first I would like know your opinion...

(sorry bab my english)

Bare knuckle pickups are really nice, you really should try them before selling them. And the Holy Divers are often recommended as very solid rg pickups.

I have a warpig A5 and a cold sweat myself. And I love them.

Re: RG1150FM with BareKnuckle pickups ?

I've really liked all the BKPs I've tried, and changed to them from dimarzios in 2 of my guitars. They are superb, so it all comes down to whether or not they give the sound you want. As Mittani says, live with them for a while before you think about swapping them out, and if you really don't want them PM me!

Re: RG1150FM with BareKnuckle pickups ?

agreed with marianozz on the creme cover... S1's tend to be a lot shorter than DiMarzio's or Fender covers though.
and that guitar is hot, it's a mature 550
i'm not fond of gold hardware but with that axe its... wow
How do those Bareknuckles par in tone anyhow? DiMarzio's are known for their clarity... Seymour's for their bright tone... BKP's...?

Re: RG1150FM with BareKnuckle pickups ?

Bare Knuckles are in a different league compared to dimarzio's.

I must admit the HD's are not my favorite BKP but imho they are better than any of the dimarzio's I have had (breeds, evo's, tone zone etc)

Hey mate that's my old guitar! I'm the original owner!

Good to see it hear.

Those pickups are Holy Divers with Ceramic magnets. Something that you can only get from BKP if you actually ask them to do it for you.

They really sound great in that guitar and I loved that guitar to death. I just sold it because trems get on my nerves now. i do miss it madly though.

this is a little world!
and I take note: Holy Divers with Ceramic magnets... I thought that they are with Alnico magnets.

I will play with these BK pickups and later I will think what I do.

but with a dimarzio Tone Zone and a Paf Joe also will sound great... I suppose.

Bareknuckles are highly sought after. I would keep them in there as they are amazingly badass. LOADS better than a Tone Zone or PAF could ever be.

It's a lovely guitar, I have one my self:
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70313

But I have the original pickups in mine and it sounds like ****, I'll replace them some day. I'll save the original pickups because this is a rare spot model, don't know how many Ibanez released of this model, but it wasn't many.

Re: RG1150FM with BareKnuckle pickups ?

Keep the Bareknuckles they are some of the best pickups on the planet. Dimarzio's can't hold a candle. That set of bareknuckles costs about what 2 sets of Dimarzios would. Chris Broderick uses BKP's in his LACS. Oh and beautiful guitar. Congrats.

Comparing DiMarzio with Bareknuckles is like compaing Honda with Ferrary.
Do yourself a favor and keep the Bareknuckles!
