RG1808?

Anybody ever come across one of these J-Customs? Its a first year JC with 2pc all maple body (not particularly figured by the look of it), ebony board & fingerboard/headstock binding.

Anyone have any info or opinions on it?

Ummmm, that may be just a poor pic, but it looks like the flame went out on that one !!! It was also available in Amber and had the std AN/BV/TZ pup combination. Ebony and maple are bright sounding tonewoods so should sound a lot brighter than the rosewood and mahogany/maple cap models. I'm sure it would look better in the flesh and it's quite rare and collectible so would be a good buy.

Re: RG1808?

I see you found the one on itchy scratchy too huh. I was going to pick it up but decided against it since I've seen ones with better looking figured maple.
Seeing that you're getting a huge F'N chunk of maple, you get some figure not a whole lot, so if anything you'd be lucky to get one with 'AAA' grade wood. This is the 3rd one I've seen in the last 8 months.

This was the top of the line model back in 1997. Essentially the J-Custom over the top version of the USA Custom Exotic Wood.

I should mention that the neck on this is not the typical J-Custom Ultra Neck rather it's supposed to have the J-Custom Wizard neck(which is the same as the ones on the RG86xx/RG96xx models)

Probably the owner had lost interest in that guitar. The guitar has feelings too......

Re: RG1808?

This is from the J-Custom catalogue the year the RG1808 was released. Its much more highly figured. So its either a bad photo, or a bad example of the guitar.
