RG1820xGK and pickups

so I got the guitar and it is one god piece however we all know that V7 and V8 aren't much, so since I have an EMG 81 lying in the closet, I thought about selling that last and the v7 v8 and replace them by SEYMOUR DUNCAN PICKUPS...

I like versatility, I play black/death/thrash metal, still I play rock/blues/fusion/jazz and use clean sounds often...

WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS????????????? don't be biased. I am thinking invader? yes or no? what about the neck pickup? any combination that you would support?

Have you considered Breeds? Or maybe Evolutions?

it is not like the v7 v8 are not serving me good, but since I have the emg and all I thought ok THESE ARE GOOD but why not upgradig to a better setup.

Re: RG1820xGK and pickups

you want versatility?

super 3 in the bridge
fred or air norton in the neck

i am assuming that you have a basswood rg due to the v7 and v8. the super 3 will cut and still have mad low end. the fred and air norton will have enough fatness, but not be too muddy for the neck. all of the pickups will sound great with the ibanez special 5 switching, too. really awesome clean tones.

for the duncan route... i would get an alnico 2 pro in the neck and the duncan custom or duncan distortion. the invader is a very mean pickup, just overbearing as far as bass goes. muds out if you down tune at all. lots of output, tho. the custom is more versatile, like a mean jb, and the distortion is more gain oriented. but the alnico 2...even the 59 is very versatile. i like the alnico 2 just a slight bit over the 59 because it is sweeter/smoother in the high mids. both split well, tho. really good single coil tones.
