RG2550 Inlays questions
isnt rg2550 inlays suppose to be smaller and white? Why do i see some with smoke purple inlays with slightly bigger dots?
any rg2550 could confirm this with me?
anyway im getting a rg2550 asap before the half arsed sharkfins took over them

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
I have an RG2550EXVBB 2004 model and also has the inlays as in that picture, newer prestige models have smaller
dot inlay
.

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
I think the inlays were changed in 2006 for smaller ones (which look better, IMO).

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
I have the GK and the inlays look exactly like the ones on that picture. I think mine is '03.

Bought mine in 2004 or 2005 and it looks like the one above.

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
Howdy.
I was wondering if anyone had any idea how long the window to get one without the
sharktooth inlays
will be open? (I think the sharktooth should stay with Jackson, personally)

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
I agree on the sharktooth. The new ones are horrible, too.
You could get a 2550 easily on the Bay. They will be around for a long time, no doubt.

Thanks for the response.
Since this will be my first guitar in a decade, I really want to get one fresh from a vendor or through Rich (who I've been hearing so much about lately). Not only am I wanting it to have a warranty and what not, I'm really looking forward to that whole xmas-present-under-the-tree feeling of "this is MY guitar".
That and there's just certain things I won't buy off of the bay. Expensive cpus, expensive guitars...well, pretty much anything expensive.
I was wondering (about the inlays) because I noticed the Ibanez site only had pictures of the 2550 with the sharktooth, but I've seen a few with the dots at some vendors.

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
I don't know how I feel about them. The inlays on the RG257O were fantastic up close, and to compare them to the ghost fins I'd have to see the ghost fins in person to make up my mind. In some pics they look silver, and in others kind of a blueish tint.

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
Buy it with sharkteeth and I will swap you for a dot neck (prestige in as-new condition).

I kinda agree, but I like the idea of no inlays at all besides side dots is even better...

Re: RG2550 Inlays questions
I bought my RG in Fall of 05, and it has the smaller dots...which at the time I was really wanting the sharkfins that were on the 2770. I'm glad I got what I did, but I just saw the new sharkfins and they look great to me too....just a great guitar all around.
