rg2550 w/sharkfins vs dots,whats the difference

hello i'm buying a 2550 and was curious to why the catalog for 2007 shows dots on fretboard but what i see in the site is sharkfins.am i seeing things?
or confusing models
please help...

The new model has ghost fin inlays. As of this year.

The new inlays and the binding look positively yum. I bought my 2550 2 years ago and it's got the dot inlays, shark fins and binding look much classier IMO.

I agree the new inlays & neck binding look good. However, the down-side might be that the binding adds to the price of a re-fret. I'd prefer dots to the inlays & am scoping for a "dot neck" RG2550 a.s.a.p. No diss-ing intended here, though. The new inlays look very unique & make a classy looking axe look a bit more classy. ;-)

Is there any way to distinguish the two other than looking at them? It appears last year's model & this year's with the inlays are both RG2550E.

Hmm...my father prefers re-fretting necks with binding. It takes more time to cut off fret tongue at the ends but it takes less to level and polish sides afterwards and it always looks cleaner. I don't understand why would they charge more...

I'm glad I got the one with the dots. I mean the guitar looks pretty metal already . . . why hit people over the head with it?
