If somebody that has a 2770 can confirm, I'm guessing the 2000 series is not a 4mm top but just a decorative veneer. I know the 2120 and 2720Q I have are, and would assume it's the same for the others.

If I recall the 2720F is just a flame version of the 2720Q... so that would mak eyou right Rich!

Used to be that 3120 had DiMarzios.... but no longer!.... Arent the 27xx Japan Spot Productions? I looked at a Q and an F Both decent bang for the buck really.

Technically what is "spot production" anyway, some model that didn't make it into some distributors catalog? Spot or not they made plenty of 2770's.

I have a 2720fm, and you are right, it doesn't have a 4mm top, just a thin veneer thingy. I guess that is the only difference

Although it won't hold for all 2000 series, I forgot the 2680M I have is a 4mm top.

I think I figured that one out from the 2720QM I got.

I don't know about the whole 2000 series, but I wouldn't be surprised.
