RG2770 - first picture

Hi all,

I finaly got around to taking some pictures of my newly arrived RG2770. I'm not a very good photographer so only one of them turned out pretty good.

For those of you who might not know about this model, it was produced only in 2004 and then in limited numbers only for the Japanese market. It's fairly rare to come accross outside Japan, and I'm super-happy I got hold of this one.

More pictures and review to follow.

Re: RG2770 - first picture

Get one of the headstock too. I think this model has a matched headstock, correct?

Absolutely stunning. Love those abalone offset dots...

Another guitar I'd love for Ibanez to make. Now the only thing they make like it are the J Customs.

Awesome score.

i love that guitar... if some day ibz wants me to make a guitar it should be like that one, 2570 or 2550 with flamed maple top... both of them

Re: RG2770 - first picture

Looks like RG3120 except it has an additional middle pup. Wonder what the differences are between these two?

Re: RG2770 - first picture

Pickups are different to the earlier 3120, headstock is matched on this 2770, and of course the extra pickup in the middle. Looks to be identical otherwise. The earlier 3120 had the Lo-Pro, too, of course. Between this and the newer 3120, the only difference I see is the single coil.

Re: RG2770 - first picture

I was on the hunt for a 3120 when I came upon this one - and this was a close enough match for me. Actually the color (IMO) is better on this one than on a 3120, and the matched headstock is a bonus. The fact that is so rare is also cool I think

The neck has the exact measurements of the original wizard, but with the Prestige finish.

The 2770 actually reminds me very much of another model I've been envious about, the Magnus Olsson signature guitars (check them out at http://magnusolsson.com/gears.htm). So needless to say I'm extremly happy with this buy.

In time I mean to change the pick ups (thinking about EVO bridge, posibly a Blue Velvet in the middle and a Breed neck).

One thing that bothers me a little is that I think the angle of the arm for the trem is to sharp, making the arm laying to close to the body of the guitar. This makes no room for those "strings rattling on the pick-up" effects. Maybe there's some replacement arms available somewhere?
