RG520 Project

Got a RG520 H/H body of ****. Cant really find much info on that particular model. The dude advertised it as a Japanese made Prestige. Just want to know if this is true and what pups and hardwarwe would have been installed?

Planning on doing a swirl-job on it with a ET custom neck. She'll be a long termer. Got a bit of swirling practise ahead of me. Any one here done one?

I thought a 520 was a 570 without the middle pickup? and possibly made from something other that Basswood.

Ive done a bunch of swirls...

Re: RG520 Project

A 520 is a mahogany bodied guitar with a quilted veneer on top. The 520s were made in Japan and are of the same quality as any other MIJ Ibanez from that time.

Re: RG520 Project

Its not a quilt top. So did they release a plain top 520? It seems to be a flat grey colour.

Re: RG520 Project

that's the RG520 indeed which is basswood. There were also RG520QS which had Quilted Sappele tops on a Mahogany back.

The model is a RG520GP. Basswood body, gray pewter color, made in Japan circa 1998. You can see a pic if you got to Rich's Ibanez Rules website and find the 1998 catolog. It was before Ibanez started with the prestige series but the quality is the same.
