rg770dx reissue edge trem question

Hello all-

Please bare with me as this is my first post and I am new to tremolo system guitars(Ive always played hard tails). My question is do any of you know if the rg770 reissues Original Edge Trem needs to have the ball end's cut from the strings in order to change strings? Thanks for all your responses!

Re: rg770dx reissue edge trem question

Since this is a reissue with the Original Edge, yes, the ball ends need to be cut off. New higher-end RGs, Jems, JSs, etc. come with the newer Edge Pro bridge which does allow you to leave the ball ends on and feed them into the bridge, but not the Original or Lo-Pro Edge.

I personally string up Edges the opposite way, with the ball end at the headstock, but I cut some length of the strings anyway, so there's still cutting involved.

That's a good way to restring these things, since there is always extra string anyways. Thanks for the very helpful reply!

I just string them backwards too. Ball end at the tuner. But this method has made me suck at restringing my strat.

join us in the official Jemsite method of stringing up...

although you will still need to cut lengths off some of the heavier strings as you won't be able to fully wind them onto the posts.

This method is also very safe for kids, curtains and clothes.
