RG8470? AAAAA maple top?

Heres a strange one...an RG8470, which carries a 50,000 yen premium over the 8270, because of what is billed as a 5A maple top. Its not on the Ibanez website, so I guess its a special order from this particular store (Ikebe)...

Its a great top (even if it doesn't look particularly bookmatched) and I like the colour, but the J-custom vine just doesn't look as cool as the JEM vine

To me it looks all spindly like a twig off a dying plant

it's subjective. it's exactly the opposite for me. I like j-c's vines because of the fat leaves

RG8470?? What's interesting is that normally Custom orders for stores have thier own model designations and the Ikebe line of custom Ibanez guitars are all HRG's. The fact that this is labelled as an RG8470 makes me think that this may be an early batch of 2006 models. I gotta go see if I can dig up some more info from some of my contacts over seas, 'cause as inconsistant as Ibanez is, they would never use a standard model designation for a store custom.

As rguser said, it's subjective. To me the JC vine looks twice as gorgeous as the Jem's.

If it really is an '06 model, hopefully that board is Ebony.

vine inlays!
I was looking at alvarez md95 with vine inlays a while ago. it was much more affordable. then it was discontinued. now my only vine therapy would be these bankbreakers.

Even if they brought back the RG8670 with a rosewood fretboard, I'd still buy one. Either way I'm happy with my RG8670 and my JCRG2 right now, I'm more interested to see what's coming in terms of 7 string JC's next year 'cause I haven't got one yet.

The model designation is indeed unusual, though i doubt this is an early 2006 model, unless Ibanez plan on introducing a choice in wood grades, a la PRS. Its a limited run, though its unusual in that it doesnt really offer anything to distinguish it from the more common models. Ikebe have in the past offered those emerald green and pink J-customs, which do stand out as being limited edition. I really wanted one of those green ones from last year, but couldnt swing it at the time....

The Emerald Green(Profundity Green) and the Pink J-Customs however were labelled as HRG's and not a standard RG8XXX model designation. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this is an IKEBE only limited run.

Speaking of that HRG in profundity green, I actually turned one down that I could have gotten for something like $1500 'cause I thought it was kinda ugly.

I'm actually thinking of buying one right now. Although green, it is different, and sometimes different is what customers look for. Besides, at least the head is matched LOL
