Man where do I start the story *lol* Anyway I picked up this one in Dec 2003 while I was still living in Japan. Me and the misses had just gotten officially married my wife had asked me what I wanted for a Christmas/Wedding gift since I had just spent a nice chunk of change on her engagement ring, and she was dying to do something for me!
Naturally I told her I wanted a high end Ibanez. Which model I had no idea at the time, but visions of Jem7vwh, PGM300's and other sig models were going through my head. So we decided to take a Saturday and go searching all the big shops I knew of, or actually knew how to get to!
So the first shop that came to mind was
Ikebe Gakki in downtown Shibuya cause they ALWAYS had a great selection of high end Ibanez! We stop there first and as soon as we entered the shop and came around the corner there was my J Custom hanging on the wall sideways just waiting to be played! I was in love, but of course next to it was a Jem7vwh, PGM300, and another RG8370TV set neck J Custom (or 8730 cant remember).
One by one I took them all down, and tried them until I finally came to the 8670! As soon as it was in my hands I was like a little kid with biggest grin you can imagine!! Everything just felt perfect, and at first I had been worried about the neck being to flat and wide like all the others, but it wasn't! I could latch onto that badboy and just wrap my hand around it no matter if I was at the neck or all the way up to the 24th fret!
Not content to just settle for a guitar after only being at one shop me and the wife checked all the other shops in Shibuya, but no 8670. Off to Shinjuku next, and I mean we walked miles lookin high and low for more 8670's cause by this time I was sold, and all I could think about was that beauty back in Shibuya, but I had to be sure it was the one for me! Of course it was, and by this time we were starving and wore out from all the waking *lol* but I wouldn't eat until I had the guitar with me plus I was paranoid it would be gone!
So we head back to Ikebe walk in and tell my good man we will take it! Pack her up, and all I can think about amidst the "irashaimse!!"......"arigato gozaima****a!"..... is how lucky I am to have such a amazing lady to be my wife........plus I'm starving *lol*
This is officially the longest post ever since I joined Jemsite *lol* sorry it's a little long winded.....
