RGT220 Ash, Anyone got one?

I'm thinking of making this my first Ibanez purchase, I just wondered if anyone here has one, or has tried one, and if so, what do you think of it?

Cheers.

Re: RGT220 Ash, Anyone got one?

RGT220I had one with me on a two weeks clinic tour a couple of months ago and played a couple of songs every night on it.
I think it really stood out as a great and stable guitar and I really liked it.
It sounded really good and worked fine to get many different sounds from.
I also had loads of other really high end Ibanez with me and the RGT220 was as good or better then all of them. It was as good as any other good Ibanez, nothing less and noting more, aöö depending on what you like.

There where guitars that I liked better, but they where built exactly like I want them, so it would be weird if I didn’t.
I personally prefer bolt on necks, but I can’t really say that I was sitting and thinking, hate this guitar, it has a neck-thru when I was playing it.
Bolt or thru is just a taste thing.

I don’t think you will be unhappy with one. Unless you are looking for a Fender but don’t know it yet.

They look great!
I´d love to try one.
Will there be a hardtail version of the RGT220 Ash too?

i love the side/back pic! WOW! sooo sweet! absolutely stunning! must...fight....GAS!!
i have liked the looks and features of these models since the came out. no mid single! i haven't had a chance to try one yet but i bet they absolutely ROCK! an angled jack would've been a cool touch.
this pic convinces me to go for the ash bodied one.

^ That's very nice. I have the new '05 catalog and I like the RGT320QRBB pictured next to it. Now that's nice!

Christ on a bike, I've just seen the prices of those things.

Lovely, but that is some serious cash.

Re: RGT220 Ash, Anyone got one?

i'll wait until i can get a used one or wait until the '06 models come out and get a year end clearance! i missed the RGT2020sol when an online store blew them out at under $900! i saw it and went back the next day to order one and they were GONE! aaarrrggghhh!!
two kinds of people - the quick and the missed out as my Grandpa used to say.
i'm kinda glad now as i really like the ash version. i have a handful of mahogany guitars already but none in ash. that ash is sooo damn sexy!

Yeah I know, cheap they aint. I am not a fan of the RGT220 personally (its not my cuppa tea at all), so I aint too bothered. I have seen them going for around £950 new in some shops though, which isnt too bad I suppose. And the next model up, the RGT320Q is around £1300 new in most shops. Again, thats serious money - but its competetively priced with most other high-end guitars on the market. Even though I am not a fan at all, I do admit they look pretty nice, and am sure they play nice enough too.

If it was up to me, I'd stick with bolt-ons as my main axes ('Cause it's usually cheaper ). But I would like to own a neck-thru though, especially the RT-220A 'cause I like the figure of ash and is not as dark sounding as mahogany.

Ah! a fellow Essex boy. If you're not keen on this guitar, what would be your choice, money no object.
I've played mostly Gibson for years, and I have a complete inability to make a right choice in the guitar shop enviroment. I need as much info as possible, then take the plunge. If it's the wrong choice then it costs dosh. I play mostly heavy stuff (badly) so I thought it was time I tried a "Rock" guitar. I really would like a Jem, but I don't like the white jobbie, the mirror one is awesome, but I think the finish would soon look crap, so where do I go?
Buying a £1500 guitar is such a bind, don't you think.......

Re: RGT220 Ash, Anyone got one?

You could always go for a JEM7DBK. They're black with a mirror pickguard and go for about £700+ used on a certain auction site. They're discontinued now, so second hand is the only way to go.

Re: RGT220 Ash, Anyone got one?

I say go get it. I recently bought the mahogony body version (wasn't prepared to pay the extra just for the ash) for 150,000 yen (about 750 pounds) and i love it. I actually bought it over a Jem 90th after having played them both. Played great and it is probably the guitar i use the most now for various reasons. I have a Jem 7v and a JS1000 and it kinda fits in between them in terms of sound and favourites, the jem of course is number 1, but i wanted something a little more versatile and the RGT fits the bill perfectly.
I read a comment about prefferring bolt-on necks, but i don't get that at all. Neck thru are awesome, and it really does make a difference when playing high up on the neck. The Jem AANJ neck is also good for that, but i have really grown to hate the way the original neck joint on my JS impedes playing high up, especially since i got used to the neck thru design. This i in large part why the JS spends most of it's life in it's case now.
I actually quite like the Dimarzio/Ibz pick ups, and with the 5 way switching the 2 humbuckers can be pretty versatile. Looks good too. I say if you can afford it, go for the ash coz it certainly is a nice looking guitar, but the mahogany is identical in every way other than that, and is a lovely guitar to play.
