Beautiful, I'm thinking of a set of D-Activators for mine, how do they sound?

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

D activators are kind of odd sounding. They don't sound active really atleast not like emgs. They are pretty good pickups. I liked them. I prefer swineshead venoms by quite a bit however. Though they aren't really geared for the same thing.

Yeah I played that model. It is really nice. The built in intonation tool was genius. The neck felt great. Good to have the S's back in Japan.

... With this axe, the D-X bridge sounds tough, kinda like getting punched by a pair of sledgehammers. It's as close to an EMG in terms of how it responds to attack but for tone, it's clearer and has more bass. The regular D-activator neck works well in the neck; almost has a "PAF" vibe and singy-ness but can register pick attacks easier.

Is it me, or is that ZR set up REALLY wrong? Shouldnt the spring bar thing be touching the block also?

*doh* forgot to take off the whammy bar when the guitar was flipped, face down, for those shots... otherwise, yes the bar's supposed to touch the block.

Re: S5470TKS + ZR shots

I just got the same guitar a couple of days ago.
I was wondering how good the sustain is on yours? and did taking out the middle pickup give it better sustain?
on my guitar, the low e, a, and d strings have sustain that goes pretty long. but the 3 higher strings only get about 3~4 seconds of sustain.

enjoying the axe so far?
... the sustain on this is pretty good; however, I usually setup my guitars with pickups closer to the strings with medium action. I usually get that magic "infinite" sustain around the 15th fret area depending on the day and amp I plug it in to... otherwise; sustain above the 15th fret is about 3 - 4 seconds before it "dies" out as opposed to a natural decay...
I doubt the stock middle pickup had something to do with the sustain although I'd suggest lowering down that pup lower than where it's at right now if you think that could be the problem. I haven't noticed an increase in sustain since the pup upgrades either; more or less the same... just louder.
and oh ya, post pics!
