Serial Numbers

Is it true that the american made Ibanez guitars (PA specifically) only carry numbers in the serial number with no leading letter? I thought since the guitars were basically made in Hoshino and assembled in the US they would carry the H designation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What about the U.S.A. Customs (USGR). My serial #F046657. I was told that is only the serial for the neck.
