Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
if they release a MIK RGA next year I will get one.
if they relaase a J-Custom RGA with tree inlay I am gonna FREAK!!!
I am looking at the pix of RGA321 on ibanezrules.
bolt-on neck no trem with a maple+
mahogany body
must be the holy recipe for tone!!!!

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
Yes, those new RGAs do look quite lovely. I wouldn't mind having one myself, but I doubt they'll ever make a korean version since the guitar just screams "Prestige." I think if they did try and make a guitar like that in Korea, it would just ruin it. Better to just let the model circulate a bit and maybe luck out and pick up a used one.

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
The RGAs are definitely one of Ibanez's wiser decisions. The RGA121 looks sweet in Violin Flat, but the RGA321 is just plain gorgeous.

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
I really like the bridge on those guitars, from what little playing I did on one in a store one day. One thing that always bothered me about
Les Pauls
is the sharp corners on the tune-o-
matic bridge
, and the bridge on the RGAs definitely addresses that problem.
Was vaguely thinking just the other day about maybe getting rid of my Les Paul (not a very good one) and getting an RGA instead.

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
I'd LOVE an RGA321 (they're the ones in the natural finish right?) absolutely gorgeous no nonsense guitars, i haven't used my whammy bar for ages on my Jem so i'm starting to think i wouldn't mind a
fixed bridge guitar
for frequent use.
I'm hoping an RGA will come up on 3bay.co.uk someday when i've got enough money..

The 321 has the flamed top, I think you want the 121.

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
The maple tops on the RGA's are actually quite thick, they just look thinner on the edges because of the carved top.

i agree ... those v7/v8's are just not hot enough. the RGA is the best thing out of ibanez in years ... the answer to my prayers ... the hot look/feel/attack of the RG's i grew up on with the lack of a floating trem.
i'm really hoping they expand the line for the 2006 models.

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
i have the RGA121 in natural (thanks Eric!) and just put a Double Whammy Dimarzio (found a store that has a big stock of them even though they have been out of production for awhile). i was bored and wanted to do something with the guitar as the V series are lame in that guitar. the DW pickup will end up in my
custom Jem
(solid mahogany body) but it sounds nice and is a big improvement over stock pups. i bought a creme/blk pup to also set of the looks a little more - very nice! i plan to put a PAF or
Air Norton
in the neck when i get my hands on one. my custom Jem has a creme/blk Tone Zone that will go in the RGA until i get a Steve's Special. i seem to play the "pickup swap" game quite a bit until i find the perfect sets for each guitar. JB/'59 or JB/Jazz combos should be an excellent choice.
make sure you get F-spaced pups as the spacing is really wide for the new neck specs.
i love this guitar and anyone thinking about getting one (121) should get new pups immediately and tweak the installation a litttle so you can adjust the height on the pups. the stock V's sit too low to get any real output. a simple spring set or more foam with longer screws fix that easily.

Re: Serious GAS for an RGA!!!
This is probably the next guitar I will get actually. In Natural, rather than Violin Flat. I love my RG421 to bits, and I really want another
fixed bridge
guitar to have in another different tuning. And the RGA series seems perfect for it. I have read/heard good stuff about them, and it would suit me down to the ground. And hey, if they are good enough for Matt Bachand of Shadows Fall, they are certainly good enough for me.
As previous users have stated, a change of pups would be a must. But I would go with an EMG set this time. As I have Dimarzios in my other axes.
Of course I will keep everyone posted of and when I get it.
