I've figured out a way to import from America without outrageous taxes!
My insurence company here in Noeway insures it, and I ship it with EMS. Then, I value it for $300, and I don't have to pay anything...! Just check with your insurance company next time you're thinking of importing something!

I just thought you should know, because you can save a BIG amount of money on it. Plus, you have A LOT more to choose from if you buy from America...!

under valuing is risky .. what if it gets lost? surly you are only going to get the 300?

hey i had a gibson studio sent over here and it was atually valued correctly (older guitar) and it came in with no taxes (1000$) limit here but it came in 2 pieces and the Parcel force post wouldnt replace the value, also they have left my patrick eggle guitar on a doorstep before when they delivered it , thats another story though , so back to the point if it gets lost isnt it still worth what EMS have it listed at ?

also wouldnt EMS have a case for fraud? then the tax man would become involved and thats the can of worms open again

Hehe, you got it all wrong...

The whole point about insuring it is that it is insured, hehe :P
That's the whole idea. Doesn't matter what I value it for. I just value it cheap so I don't have to pay taxes. It's an individual insurance of the guitar and I will still have it when it's here...!

It isn't illegal. It's just a lot cheaper/smarter way to do things...

Well, That's what I told Straymond at last time, when he was thinking to buy my RG8670. I can ship the guitar to Norway by EMS, and I value the guitar as $300USD. BUT, I will buy the insurance of the guitar for $3000USD. That means if post office LOST or BROKE the guitar, you will get $3000USD back, but if the custom wanna charge the import tax fee, they will just follow the package vaule, which is only $300USD. That' what I always do to my oversea buyer!!

There is no insurance available shipping to Norway by EMS.

YES, there is no insurance available shipping to Norway by EMS, might from your country or USA, but I'm from Taiwan, our Post Office can offer that!!

So how about if I ship the guitar by UPS or Fedex??

Then it can be insured because the insurance is with them, not Norway's postal service.

So that means if I want to sell stuff to Norway's buyer, better to choose UPS or Fedex?? Then I can lower the vaule for guitar, and buy high amount insurance.

No, that's what I tried to do.

If you ship it with UPS, they have to match. The value and the insurance has to be identical. That's why it's so expensive, you can't value it low.
That's why you have to pay taxes...
