Do Maple fretboards require more maintenance than rosewood over the long run? Do people prefer maple or rosewood? Just wondering if I should switch to the RG1550M instead.

Re: The wait is on! Ordered an RG1570

rosewood hides the wear/grime
maples can't
if the maple has urethane on it it can be pretty rappy as the finish wears off and the dirt builds up simultaniusly.
not much you can realy do to stop it.
cleaning just accelerates it
still I love my maple neck
but yes, more maintainence

wow, looks like you've been waiting a month for this. I wouldn't have the patience. Especially on a guitar the can be easily obtained.

Not so easily obtained here. I want one that hasn't been hanging in a shop for months and hasn't been played by lots of people. There aren't that many stores here and they said they'd have to order one anyway.... And yes it's hard to be patient!

GC.com has it in stock. a freshie to your doorstep would take less than a week.

Not only did he want somebody to actually look at the guitar before it was shipped, but he ordered a silver package, locking studs, etc. For $80 more than GC where you're just as likely to get one that had been on the floor somewhere? Puhlease.

setting up a guitar isnt rocket science. waiting a month+ for a setup is ridiculous IMO.

Also, If GC sent a floor model and it was obvious, all you have to do is return it (*they pay return shipping), and they next day air you another one.

someone obviously doesn't have any past experiences buying a high price item from a retail outlet.....................
lets not get started on those highly trained, well paid sales associates.....

there's no need. I'm not here to argue with you.

Only saying he could have had his guitar before halloween if he'd ordered elsewhere.

I know you're known for doing good setups, but as I said, it's not rocket science. A local tech could have set it up for him.

If you're referring to me, you're mistaken. I actually did recently order a RG3550MZ from GC, and it arrived in perfect condition. No complaints at all. brand spanking new
