Thinking about coming back to...

the Ibanez family!
I really miss it! I've been using just a Line 6 Variax and an XT Live. I recently sold my 500 to buy a 600 and that was a mistake. The 600 has a thinner neck so I thought I would be better off, but my small hands are still cramping. The only neck that I've never cramped up on is the Prestige wizard neck. And, I'm totally missing having one in my arsenal. So, what should I get? I'm thinking either an RGT320Q or the RG2550/2570. Or, maybe the RGA321. I just can't decide if I want a trem or not.
Help!

Brian

Haha, I play in a church praise band! But, I love the Ibanez trems. Yep, I would have to get a tremol-no for sure.
What about the RG1820X?
I'll need to get a good acoustic sound.

Re: Thinking about coming back to...

The RGT320QBRB would be my first choice. You will have to fix the neck though. When I bought mine it was (broken). For some really stupid reason it had this sticky, glossy, laquer on the back of the neck. It sucked. My thumb would get stuck and oh, it sucked, like a Jackson or something. But it sounded so smooth and sweet, sweeter than all my Prestiges I think. So instead of taking it back and telling Ibanez, "Fix this, what the hell are you doing putting this stupid **** on the back of your necks anyway?", Also, why would a guitar manufacturer that is known for it's playability, and dynamics go and do something like that? For looks? Because Jackson does? That's the main reason I don't buy and play Jackson's! Cause the neck's (broken) right when you buy any neck-thru.
Anyway, my tech sanded it down for me and put a nice oil finish to her and tapered her off just nicely! Now she plays as great as she sounds! And because she's the most beautiful and best SOUNDING of your choices, that's the one I would choose. Peace, good luck...

Thanks for the replies. I quickly put my Variax and XTL up for sale and then quickly locked the thread. I think I'll just buy an Ibanez and keep my Line 6 stuff for now.

Just curious. Have you ever thought of mixing your church music with Dio's type of riffs and rhythms to raise the emotion level of the masses that come to your church every weekend and put everyone at the edge of their seats? The music may be a little heavy metal (ok alot more) but the lyrics are totally the opposite.

Re: Thinking about coming back to...

good decision
i'm also love the variax and played them (all series) a few time, but... the neck!
the neck is thicker.
but now... warmoth have a custom replacement neck for those variax.
maybe you can try to contact warmoth to get the neck you want (if you still wanna keep the variax).

Re: Thinking about coming back to...

BTB, after playing my Jacksons and my Wolfgangs, I was becoming "tired: of them. With my new Ibanez RGA121, I feel like playing mor ethen ever. SMooth unfinished neck thats nice and wide and lets me work on my technique and soloing.

I used to complain the Wizard necks were too thin, but the new prestige ones seem a little thicker, and perfect for my hands. My next purchase will be an RGA220 neckthru. In the meantime though, this current axe is great!
