Question

USA Custom Blue S Series

I have recently stumbled upon the world of the Ibanez S series, and I immediatley became a fan of the line and have set out for a search to find the best S series within my budget, really below $400 or just about that. Through my searching I came across a blue s series that had the words "Custom Made" imprinted on the neck, as well as these pickups that had "US" on them. Since I had just gotten into the S series, I didn't know whether I should buy the guitar, for it was $399, so I put it off. Today, I came across the exact same guitar for $1,100, the exact one. I soon found out that the guitar I saw at the guitar store was an Ibanez USA S Series Custom, with the blue finish, and HSH pickup configuration. I do not know much on this guitar or the history of the S series, but I am doing my Ibanez homework and my research on this guitar. I am looking for opinions on this guitar, and whether I SHOULD buy it for $399, right below my budget cut-off line. I will upload pictures of the guitar from the auction, and also, the one at the store was semi-used, though no major scratches or dents and all electronics in working order. So, let me know what you think!

Re: USA Custom Blue S Series

If it is in good shape then 399 is a decent price for one. I had a S540LTD in Jewel Blue once. It is one of the ones I regret letting go years back.

That is the same one I had. If you can get it for 399 do it man. It is a S540LTD in Jewel Blue. Very nice one. If you don't get it send the contact info to me =)

Im pretty sure its not American made and it's definately not custom made, or even a custom shop piece, but its still a great guitar. I have one in black.

The pickups have long since been replaced in mine, but were the IBZ/USAs that you had in yours the same as real Dimarzios CD?

Nope but I did put in some Dimarzio/IBZ pups. Same as the real deal I hear.

I like how in the description it says "With a huge choice of necks, fingerboards, and pickup configurations....".

Right, 1 neck wood, 1 fretboard wood, and 3 pickup configuration choices. How can anyone decide between all those.

Do you get a good shred tone that you can also use for blues and jazz? Can you play salsa music or the Mexican hat dance song with those pickups? What about if you play it through a friends 15 watt Marshall MG that sounds better than the JCM800 I played on 2 at Gutiar Center?
