USRG30------S7420 Custom------RG2027X - Differences???

Hi there, I'm new here and this is my first question to you all. I am the pround owner of a USRG30, and I am in the market for a new guitar. A couple which I am considering are the S7420 Custom and the RG2027X. My question is that other than the 7th string, are there noticable sonic differences between my USRG30 and either of there guitars? I haven't gotten a chance to try them out yet, and I wanted some opinions. What are some of the differences? Are there good quality guitars? I don't want another guitar that is very similar to my USRG30.
Thanks

The RG 2027 is FAR superior to the S 7420!

2027=Double Edge trem (peizo), 3 peice tung oiled neck, made in the Japanese factory by the top Ibanez luthiers.

7420=TRS trem, Korean made.

Let's not even talk about the 7420 anymore, it's such a step down from even an RG 7620.

I'm pretty sure the USRG's have alder bodies. The 2027 has a mahogany body. I'm not sure how much difference there will be sonically between these two, but the biggest difference will definatly be the 7th string and the peizo pickups in the trem. You also might want to look at a Universe or an RG 7620.

Just stay away from anything made in Korea with a TRS trem.

Thanks for the help, I'll check out the 2027. I got a new Fender strat for Christmas so it turns out I'm set for a while.

To me, the USRG's are so very unlike any other Ibanezes that almost anything you get will be a drastic difference. The Alder body and tension-free neck both make a very unique guitar. Most other Ibanezes are basswood (with a few mahogany exceptions). The closest neck to the tension-free neck (as far as my hands can tell) is the Ultra neck on the JPM's.

Between the RG2027 and S7420--that is no contest. The RG2027 is a much finer instrument. As Doink suggests, though, don't overlook the RG7620's and UV's--they're both fine guitars that would be significantly different than the USRG.

I thought the JPM neck was called the Viper?

Oops... I was backwards there. Yes, the JPM has the Viper neck and USA Customs (some of them, at least), have the Ultra neck.

I think the Ultra neck has since become the Wizard 2. Same thickness as the JEM, but a rounder radius.
